The argument in the present
Survival of Fitness traces a recurring problem: variation becomes abstraction, abstraction acquires authority, and the description can begin to shape the reality it was meant to describe.
The essays follow that problem into the present.
They examine institutions, science, technology, artificial intelligence, education, media, and public life by asking a simpler question: what has been assumed before the judgment begins?
Some begin with history. Others begin with a headline, a measurement, an institution, or a new technology. The aim is not to force each subject into the same conclusion, but to find where the frame clarifies reality, where it compresses it, and what changes when the conditions themselves change.
